On this day, 15 July, in 1856...

As part of my blog, I will be periodically be doing a short 'On this day' article featuring a member of the Sarson family.

On this day, 15 July, in 1856, Thomas Sarson married Emma Isabella Barrowcliff at the parish church of Emmanuel on Forest Road in Loughborough, Leicestershire, England [1]

Their marriage is recorded as below :

In October 1835, building work of the Emmanuel Church in Loughborough began and was completed within 2 years. It was built by Thomas Rickman in a 'Decorated Gothic' style. Today it is a Grade II Listed Building and home to an Evangelical church congregation. You can find out more about the church and the surrounding area in a document published by Charnwood Borough Council here.
